Priestess of the White Age of the Five TRUDI CANAVAN 9781841493862 Books

This is an interesting clash-of-cultures novel, with almost all of the POV characters being from one of two sides (the White, who follow a set of five gods who they believe are the only survivors of a war among gods a few centuries past, and the Dreamweavers, who think all gods are nasty sorts who want to keep humankind in subjugation), but with the third side, the Pentadrians, gradually emerging from an apparent mist of evil to become a set of followers of new gods who may or may not actually exist, but who are probably not any worse than the ones worshiped by the White. Certainly there are enough moral ambiguities drifting around at the end of the book that I want to read the rest of the trilogy to see whether there's any real good-vs-evil conflict, or if there are just different opinions as to which gods are worth following (if any).

Priestess of the White Age of the Five TRUDI CANAVAN 9781841493862 Books Reviews

Truely I was expecting more from Canavan. This book jumps around among its various characters too much, and bogs down in spots. Auraya is supposed to be a true leader and protector of her country. She has shown in the past that she carefully thinks through her plans and decisions. (That's how she saves the town at the start of the book), but she is certainly ready to write off her Dreamweaver lover awfully fast, even though she has known and trusted him for years (and can read his mind). I'm planning to read the next book, but will wait till I can buy it cheap secondhand.
Loved this series!
I love the imagination in these books.
Trudi Canavan is one of my top 5 favorite authors.
I have been reading books from Trudi Canavan recently (Black magician trilogy and the traitor spy trilogy) and really liked them, so I started the new trilogy of the Age of Fire.
The book is very nice and I would recommend it to anybody who liked the previous books of the author or the people who like an easy read of Fantasy book (this one also includes a religious aspects on top of magical abilities).
Really recommend it.
Having read the the previous trililogy by this author and was literally spellbound by it; I was unsure if I would enjoy this first of a further trilogy as much. I am happy to say that I am finding it a good and enjoyable read.
Bottom Line Try before you buy
Really neat idea for this series..and pretty darn good world building with a variety of unique beings. Plus the magic was pretty good too, and believable..
I just didn't get hooked in to the main character, Auraya. She wasn't a strong enough character. She was just so-so. And the whole thing with her falling in love with whats-his-name was pretty dumb..and their love scene was even worse.
I never finished the first book...maybe the second got better..
Lorna Freeman, Robert Jordan, Greg Keyes (Briar King) are a lot better...
Read the rest of the trilogy and had the plot plan figured out 1/4 way through the second book. Actually suspected the final plot twist in the first book, 100% sure in the second. The story is good, but not as good as the first trilogy of hers I read, the Black Magician trilogy. which at least kept me guessing a bit and the plot moved right along
