Likely would have been quite the enjoyable story line if the writing was better, which is why I forced myself through it. I don’t know how this author has so many books out and charges so much money for them. I’ve read better amazon unlimited stories.

Love this book. Hard to put down. Bertrice Small includes a lot of the history of the the kings and queens. I am ready to go to the next book in this series

How much we’ve progressed through time
Again this author holds ones interest as she provides mystery, romance and lures one into the history of Scotland. The ever going wars between England and Scotland. And the strong women who fought with their men to gain their love and respect.
Enjoy.
I just love Ms Smalls stories and characters. All the women are so strong and independent, or at least as much as they can be considering the era in which they live. She closes up loose ends in her stories, which I appreciate, and her stories are always interesting with all the characters and their quirks, LOL. I recommend her to any and all historical romance fans! Happy reading!
Acting like two cats with sore tails, Scotland and England must battle all along their border. The Border lairds and their families must always answer to their King and fight to keep what little they have. Marriagable women are few and far between, so when your King gives you one of his wards hand in marriage, you take it. Sometimes love comes sometimes it's to a cruel master they go. Luckily Ellen was given to Duncan Armstrong a laird that grew to love her furiously.
