Don't look for a professional review here. I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I love this book. You see, I'm a 60+ year old white guy who reads mostly political stuff lately to help me fulfill my role as the old curmudgeon who sits at the end of the bar. I'm not sure how to bring up a book like this without making people suspicious that Old Bob is finally reaching the end of the line. I hope Judy Greer and the people to whom she gave credit can get back together for another project. If you do read this book, you'll find yourself quoting from it. Honest. Whether it's something about traffic in LA, peeing, or being a stepmom, believe me when I tell you that you'll get a fresh perspective that makes the rest of your day a little better.

I Don't Know What You Know Me From Confessions of a CoStar Judy Greer 9780385537889 Books Reviews

Love, love, love Judy Greer's book! I laugh so much, my husband is curious about the book. I like the fact that she is so down to earth. I know she would have been my home girl if we had ever met. I bought the book last year but I took my time to read it (just now at the end) because I didn't want the laughs to be over. Keep crying over silly commercials if you want girl, because underneath it all you are a strong woman. You go Judy!
I had the chance to work with Judy once a few years ago. I was knocked out by how sweet, kind, interesting and beautiful this young woman was and is. I knew she would do well in Hollywood. This book is interesting, funny, different and a joy to read. Treat yourself to reading it soon!
Judy Greer is hilarious! I've been a huge fan of hers since Arrested Development. She plays such great characters. I read the entire book in two days. I could barely put it down. The way she describes her interaction with other actors, her fans, and the public is amazing. The portion about peeing next to some really famous actresses was so great. I laugh/cried a lot. I highly recommend this if you want an entertaining read.
...not amazing. I super enjoy Judy as an actress and this book has only reinforced my love for her. But it's simply just not the most well-written or cohesive book. It was, however, enjoyable, entertaining, and endearing. I read the whole book over several months, and liked every minute of it. But it's basically written as if you're sitting down for a drink with your friend who's telling you their life story and saying their husband's name WAY too much. I do not regret getting this book on kindle and recommend it to any fan of hers. Ultimately, I want to be her friend, but want her to get some better assistance writing her second book.
I went into this book expecting more Hollywood dirt and dish but she won me over nonetheless. I DO know what I know her from (lots of TV and movies -- plus the funny new Sprint "Framily" campaign) and like her even more now. This series of essays and stories from her life was funny, touching and she has a great voice that completely translates to the page. The tone of the book is girlfriend to girlfriend (but men you might enjoy it too!) Many excellent bits but my favorite was her list of what NOT to say to a celebrity when and if you run into them. Judy I promise not to say any of those horrible things!!
I've like Judy Greer as a supporting actress for many years, so when I discovered she had written a book and it was described as a collection of recollections I figured it would be perfect as my next bathroom reader and I was correct. Easy to pick up and continue from where you stopped. Funny recollections of her "average" upbringing. She's like one of us, and realizes not everyone is going to be a top billing star. I just got to her graduating from college, but am earger to read the rest.
I hate leaving a less-than-stellar review, but... Basically, this was a fun book and Judy Greer is a doll and I feel like I would love to know her in real life (she'd be a great person to hang out with) but there's not a ton of "content" to the book. She's not spilling gossip or venom or telling crazy stories. It's just her own story, which isn't over-glamorized (and makes it likable) but it's hard for me to tell people YOU MUST READ THIS. Because it's just a sweet story and although I liked it, it's not earth-shattering.

So I guess if you're looking for a well-written book about a normal person who is down-to-earth who happened to end up in Hollywood, you might like this book.
