Book Review- The Onyx Talisman by Brenda PandosIn the third book of the Talisman Series, Julia is going crazy without word from Nicholas. She can’t stand being away from him. Scarlet, Phil, Tyler and Katie won’t let her go to LA to see him. They have formed their own coven with Scarlet who’s planning to enable Julia to break the curse and destroy all vampires.
When her mother’s body has been discovered, Julia, Luke and her dad end up in LA. Julia takes a chance, sneaking out to check on Nicholas. She is devastated to find he doesn’t remember her.
With her heart broken because of Nicholas and her mother, Julia is overwhelmed by her loss. When she and her dad are approached by a vampire she tries to get them away, but her father kills the vampire. She is shocked that he even knows about them. When he reveals what his job really is, she is reeling with shock. When she returns from her trip, she discovers that Sam, her best friend, has been turned. This is one more reason why she can’t kill all the vampires. She can’t lose everyone she cares about.
More and more students are now being turned as result of an injection of venom. Alora still wants the talisman and now the father of all vampires is on his way. How is Julia supposed to keep everyone safe? Everything is left up to her, her destiny.
This book was packed full of action and surprises. It was the best book in the series. The villainous characters were easy to hate. Alora was definitely a piece of work. You rooted for Julia the whole way. She grew into her role and became a strong lead character. I’m very glad for that fact. I was torn after reading the first book. I loved the story but really disliked Julia. I am relieved that she evolved the way she did.
I also really liked how the author ended the series. At first I wasn’t sure. There was a lot of sadness and devastation for Julia. She ended up making the biggest sacrifice. However her reward was worth it in the end. I give it a 4 out of 5.

The Onyx Talisman Brenda Pandos Books Reviews
My Rating 4.5
In 2010, I was lucky enough to be introduced to the first and second installments of Brenda's electrifying vampire series, The Emerald Talisman and The Sapphire Talisman. This year, the end I've been dreading has finally arrived, The Onyx Talisman sadly concludes the journey I started two years ago. I've grown to love all the characters in their own way, even the ones that deserve a good staking here and there.
Julia, from the beginning, has bloomed into a courageous young lady that has the ability to look evil in the eye with the strength of a bull. Nicholas, my badass vampire killer, has remained the upmost gentleman, even though he went through obstacles in the third book, I was still eager to experience his presence. Plus, the relationship between Nicholas and Julia sustained the timeless bond which I found to be romantically impressive.
Phil, my developed crush in the second novel, continued to pull at my heart with his unconditional love and respect for Julia. He was the right person for her to lean on throughout the difficult circumstances that erupted in this part of the series. As for the unexpected twists in The Onyx Talisman, holy crap! Brenda you sure do know how to spin things up for us readers, some of the unforeseen scenes were just downright perfect.
Towards the end, it took me a second to digest everything and it left me with a grin that summed up how I felt about the talisman series. We've all read vampire books, and unfortunately it's gotten to the point of reading repetitive plots. Luckily for me and vampire lovers, Brenda's work of artistic writing ability surpasses the stereotypical boundaries and creates a uniquely transformed series you'd love to sink your teeth into. I will sadly miss the story and the characters formed, but I am excited to see where Brenda's mind will take us next!

In the amazingly endearing conclusion to the Talisman series, we find ourselves back with Julia and Nicholas as they work their way through the vampires that want her blood, or her death. One is as good as the other, and both is sweeter still. Nick is gone, and Julia is alone with the few vampire friends that she's made. Phil is there, and when Nick is gone, it's too hard not to want to be with him. But she has to persevere. Nick could be back any day now, and she just has to stay safe.
But, patience is not one of Julia's strong suits. She is too eager to get her hands on Nick and make sure that he's doing all right. Even if that ends up putting her right in the middle of Vampire Playing Grounds. But, secrets begin to come to light, and is Nick really capable of being the same person that Julia fell in love with?
Only time will tell.
I'm so sad to see this series end. From the very first novel, I have fallen in love with the characters that Pandos has placed on paper. Julia is sweet, smart, and witty. I love the absolute dedication she has to the world around her, and I love the way that she fights for love no matter how hard it may seem. I love Nick, and how strong and steadfast he is, the way that he continues to evolve and change throughout the series. Pandos has done an excellent job creating a cast of characters that will stick with her readers for a long time to come.
In this gripping finale, everything comes to a head, and finishes off cleanly. At first, when I read the ending, I was a bit miffed. Fearing the worst. But Pandos has a strange twisted surprise in the ending of her trilogy that I think will keep most readers happy. I hope that everyone interested in vampires, and the like, will pick up this amazing series and find within it's covers a world that is truly worth being read.
